Garbarnia Krakow - Gornik Leczna (0-1)

II Liga Stadion Garbarni July 27, 2019 I have never heard about Garbarnia before I moved to Krakow. I thought that the third team of Krakow must be Hutnik, but turns out Garbarnia has more history. It was a successful side in the 20s and 30s of the last century. Garbarnia even won a Polish championship title in 1931 but then it fell into obscurity after the war. The club represents the district of Krakow called Ludwinow. The old tannery was located there and that’s what the name of the team actually means. Garbarnia used to play right on the bank of Wisla, overlooking Wavel castle but then their stadium was demolished to make way for the super brutalist concrete hotel that is abandoned now. Oh how I wish I could watch a game there. Instead, Garbarnia got a plot of land in their native Ludwinow in 1990 and now it’s a very small and modest-looking stadium with just a single stand. Poznan Double: Day 2. Lech Poznan - Radomiak Radom (2-0)

Stadion Poznan, July 30, 2023 Ekstraklasa I took first half a day to explore Poznan and I really enjoyed it. The only drawback (and a significant one) was that the entire historic centre is one huge excavation site nowadays. Apparently, the renovations have been going on for quite a while and I could not see the market square or any adjacent street. Well, there is always next time and, besides, Poznan has a lot to offer besides just the main square. Whenever I can, I always try to walk to the stadium. It always augments the whole match-going experience. The stadium in Poznan is quite far from the centre, though it’s still inside the city and is surrounded by buildings and residential infrastructure and not just parking lot and highways wasteland. Took about an hour but it was a very interesting experience that helped me get more familiar with Poznan. Lech Poznan is one of the top clubs of Poland. Sweden-Latvia (7-2)

May 18. 2024 Ostravar Arena IIHF World Championship I really dislike Ostrava but it's a fairly big city, especially in terms of Czech Republic, so lots of things are happening there. Naturally, Ostrava hosted IIHF World Hockey Championship group along with Prague. And you can't beat the location, it's essentially a home venue for both Poland and Slovakia. And luckily, Sweden was also in the Ostrava group. Of course I could not miss the opportunity of watching Tre Kronor so close to my home. I had no plans of staying overnight so I chose an early Saturday gave versus Latvia. I was also excited to see the famous Latvian fans. And when the squads were finally announced, I was over the moon. So many cool players came to play for Sweden. A smooth 2h bus ride from Krakow and I'm in Ostrava. Had some Swedish fans coming on the same bus but overall I did not expect too many Swedes attending the game. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it is now to pay the transport fare in Ost
