2025 so far

I might squeeze out a top list of my highlights of 2025 so far which marks the end of 24/25 season and the first half of the calendar year.

10. Pogon Szczecin

Finally managed to get to Szczecin and see a game here. It's the hardest ground to get to from Krakow and you really need to organize your trip based on the fixture list. The game against Lechia was really entertaining and Szczecin is amongst the best football towns of Poland in terms of atmosphere.

9. Naprzod Janow

A small local hockey club in historic district of Katowice. A cool arena in unbelievable surroundings.

8. City of Bratislava

Quite unexpected, as everyone dismissed Bratislava as nothing special. I really liked it though.

7. Hooverhonic in Athens

Always had a soft spot for the band. They played The Magnificent Tree in full. It's not my favourite album but it's a good one. And they played some trip-hop classic bangers.

6. Sigma Olomouc

An absolutely unique ground, always wanted to see it. Should have chosen a better game against a big club, but even as such it was a very cool experience.

5. A Place to Bury Strangers in Krakow

This was my 3rd time watching APTBS and it was wild. Impossible to explain and describe, you have to experience it yourself.

4. SK Lisen

A small local club in Brno. A nice little ground just for locals. Beer and sausages. A trip with my friends. Meeting our cult hero. Memories that will last a lifetime. Turns out it's been SK Lisen's last season and they will be rebranded and move to another ground. A fucking shame.

3. First Vienna

A bucket list ground that I wanted to see for years. An absolute must for any groundhopper.

2. Rome Derby

Might be the biggest game I've ever seen. Totally deserves all the buzz. Italy still remains my favourite country to see a match. Now imagine it's THIS match. Unreal.

1. Rome

I thought I was prepared. But nothing can prepare you for Rome and it's grandeur. Despite the crowds, overtourism and faded infrastructure, it's simply stunning and unbelievable.
